Well, that explains a lot.
Dec. 10th, 2007 01:07 pmWhile trying to find yet another book that the catalog listed as being on the shelf but I couldn't find anywhere, the librarian let slip the one fact that made everything make sense. The construction project that has had most of the ground floor blocked off? That's where the fiction section used to be. Also, it is where the fiction section will be again when it's finished. Everything I've been complaining about? The results of temporary overcrowding while the work is being done.
You know, if there had been any signs anywhere mentioning this, I would have taken everything as a matter of course. For that matter, if any of the other librarians I've involved in my searchs had said something, I would have been more understanding. I mean, if you try to compress anything down to 5/6ths of it's normal size, there will be side effects.
And now I no longer have my curiosity about what was going on with the ground floor bugging me either.
