Apparently the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confiscated a shipment of 30 Airsoft rifles in Oregon, claiming "With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun".
Wait, WHAT?!?!?!? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these things firing pellets that are about half the diameter of even .22 caliber ammo? and doing so using compressed air which means that they are lacking such things as, oh, firing pin assemblies? Basic math on the price of the shipment says that each gun sells for around $400, so at least these are probably not also made of plastic like most of the ones I've seen but still, would it really be easier to convert one of these into a machine gun than it would be to make one from scratch?
