April first
Apr. 1st, 2008 02:00 pmYou know, one of the main problems with april fools day is that if you say that you don't care for it the odds are high that someone will pipe up with "Come on, grow a sense of humor." As if practical jokes are the be all and end all of comedy. My primary dislike of the day comes from the uninspired nature of most of the pranks played. That, and the ones that are deliberately cruel and represent the perpetrators true feelings for the target which are merely suppressed the 364 days that they can't just pretend "Ha, ha, just kidding." I understand the importance of giving people a day when they can get back at their superiors without fear of repercussions, but does it really have to be disguised as humor?
