Interesting side note, being unable to get Hanneford brand salsa (in my opinion the best salsa I tried in maine, which is interesting in it's own right) I tried Casa Sanchez Salsa Roja, a brand I hadn't previously ever encountered. When I got home to try it, I found that i had mistakenly grabbed the 'hot' rather than the 'medium' I meant to, but decided to try it anyway, I would just use less. I would call it a medium. Possibly even a mild if it were to be compared with some other brands, and I don't think that I would want it to be any milder. And while it isn't the flavor I was looking for, I definitely like it in it's own way.

Anyway, I just think it's odd that the salsa had at the northern end of the east coast was hotter that the one I have here at the southern end of the west.

When I was out there last week, I had a mild taco sauce that I would rate a medium. :D It was damn tasty, though, and I would have preferred to try a hotter version, but that´s all my friends had in stock.

Of course, I´ve also had a lamb dish out there that everyone was staring at me while I tried it in expectation that I would die, since it´s so spicy. Ummm... yeah. I barely noticed that it had any kick. Maybe a mild tingle.

*shrugs helplessly*

I don't think I'd regard San Francisco as the "southern end" of the west coast.
