Annoyances

Has anyone personally heard of a situation where a car alarm did anything positive other than making the owner feel better? Okay, they probably scare off the nervous amateur criminals, until they notice that no one seems to react to them going off with anything more than irritation. And this was true back in Maine, where people had more reason to think it was their car in particular that was going off. In just the parking lot near me here, there are at least 3 cars with the exact same alarm, whose owners usually mess up the deactivation code when getting in. How much you want to bet that by now each one dismisses it as one of the other two when one of the alarms goes off?
